Great Gadgets

I like to collect kitchen gadgets, some because it makes it easier when I cook, and others just because I like the way they look.

I found two gadgets that I like for both reasons. I received a gift card for Williams-Sonoma for my Birthday (Thanks, Steph!) , and after much debating about which gadgets I should get, I settled for two (so far).

I use limes and lemons a lot. I enjoy the flavor they add to dishes and I really enjoy the cleaning power of the lemon. I decided to get a fun looking citrus juicer. I was drawn to the bright yellow color. The thing I liked most about the idea of getting a juicer was that I no longer had to fish the seeds out when I juiced the lemons. I made a good choice. It extracts virtually every drop of juice, all with one little squeeze, and is easy to clean.

I have been wanting to get a Microplane grater for awhile. I use a lot of lime zest. I decided to get the fine grater so I can grate citrus zest, garlic and spices. The first time I used it I was convinced I had added the right gadget to my overflowing gadget drawer. I made garlic shrimp and the grated garlic melted into the shrimp, butter, lemon juice, lemon zest and parsley. It was wonderful.

I can't wait to spend the rest of my gift card!

Southern Utah

Last week Dwight and I went to St. George to visit Family. While we were there, we decided to visit Zion Canyon. Neither of us had ever been before. It was beautiful.

We also went to Snow Canyon, located just outside of St. George. It was amazing to see the beautiful mounds of red sandstone.

Quote Collection

"When something is over and done with, when it has been repented of as fully as it can be repented of, when life has moved on as it should and a lot of wonderfully good things have happened since then, it is not right to go back and open some ancient wound that the Son of God Himself died to heal."

Out Like a Lion

In Elementary School I learned that March comes in either like a lamb or a lion, and goes out either like a lamb or a lion. This year, I would say that March came in like a lamb and went out like a lion. February and the beginning of March were fairly mild, and I really enjoyed it.

On Tuesday, the wind began to howl. As I was walking home from a visit with the neighbor I saw shingles laying on the grass. I felt bad for the poor person that lost their shingles. We have many neighbors that have a patchwork of shingles on their roof because the winds can be so strong. I looked up to see that shingles were flapping on the back corner of our roof. We haven't been able to get up there yet to assess the damage. Hopefully it's not too bad.

When I let Ellie out this morning, the snow on the deck was up to her shoulders. When Dwight went out a little later, he measured 7 inches in the back yard. We went from 60 degrees, to snow in just a few days. Ellie isn't a fan of the cold so, as usual, when she came shivering in, Dwight made her a nice little nest, heating pad and all.

I am very ready for warmer Spring weather to arrive. So is Ellie.
